Receiving the Disruptive Power of His Presence

Isaiah 7:14 AMPC Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: Behold, the young woman who is unmarried and a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel [God with us].

Once a year we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with a holiday called Christmas in which presents are given often only to be exchanged because it was the wrong color, or it did not fit. Truth be told even the perfect present given during this time leaves a person over time unchanged! We will begin to discover that the greatest gift received does not come from a present under a tree, but from receiving the Disruptive Power of His Presence!

Presence: panymGod’s presence is the awareness of his true nature (the glory) before it manifests.

  • Whenever the presence of God shows up truth shows up. Whenever the Truth/Christ shows up He shakes the world.

Luke 12:49-52 NLT 49 I have come to set the world on fire, and I wish it were already burning! 50 I have a terrible baptism of suffering ahead of Me, and I am under a heavy burden until it is accomplished. 51 Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I have come to divide people against each other! 52 From now on families will be split apart, three in favor of Me, and two against–or two in favor and three against.

  • The presence brings truth. Truth brings a disruption because where truth is there must be an individual decision made.

The disruptive power of the presence of God

Disruption – forcible separation. Division in parts. To interrupt or impede the progress. To rent, break or rupture.

  • God wants his presence in your life all the time.

Jesus came to bring disruption into your life: Before peace comes there will be a disruption.

God is not wild or out of control, but He is disruptive

Mark 1:21-28 KJV 21 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught. 22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. 23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, 24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. 25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. 26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.

  • When the presence of God comes into a Life/Home/Church/Nation, God begins to rebuke evil, and expose worldliness.

27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him. 28 And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.

  • God moves past the public life and begins to disrupt and change the private lives of people. (He will expose what is not right to you first).

  • The more truth you get the more freedom you receive from the world. When truth shows up the world/evil must let go of its hold.

INSTEAD OF RESISTING THE PRESENCE WE MUST RECEIVE IT.

Isaiah 64:1-4 NLT 1 Oh, that You would burst from the heavens and come down! How the mountains would quake in Your presence! 2 As fire causes wood to burn and water to boil, Your coming would make the nations tremble. Then Your enemies would learn the reason for Your fame! 3 When You came down long ago, You did awesome deeds beyond our highest expectations. And oh, how the mountains quaked! 4 For since the world began, no ear has heard, and no eye has seen a God like You, who works for those who wait for Him!

  • God is saying today allow the presence of God into your life to disrupt and bring change.

  • When Jesus comes, in the world it gets disrupted, not you but the world in you.
