Deuteronomy 28:13 NLT If you listen to these commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom.
True authority is the right and the power to be who you were created to be. It does not have to be “worked up” or assigned by a person —only released and developed by God, the author of all authority! Today we will continue the process of releasing our God-Given Authority and getting back what we gave up!.
Personal Authority - The Greek word for “authority” in the Scriptures is exousia, and one meaning of this word is delegated influence.
True authority is, therefore, the key to fulfillment and effective living. It is also the means of powerful, positive influence in other people’s lives.
To regain what we lost, we must understand how and what we gave up!
Read Genesis 2:15-17 AMPC
This authority did not belong to mankind; it was shared with us by God.
Because God is the author of everything, anything received from God can only be shared, not owned.
This is why ownership is the root of all disobedience!
Read Genesis 3:4-6 AMPC
Satan is a created angelic being who rebelled against God’s authority himself. His goal is to cause human beings to lose their true selves by forfeiting the precious life and authority that God has shared with them.
Adam and Eve gave up what was original for an imitation.
Two major results of our betrayal of God’s authority:
#1 Humanity experienced self-destruction.
Romans 1:22-25 NLT 22 Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. 23 And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles. 24 So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies.
Whatever is not authorized by the Creator can’t be guaranteed to function as designed.
25 They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator Himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen
Anyone who forfeits true authority will ultimately self-destruct because he/she is no longer under the safeguard and protection of that authority.
Read Romans 8:8-9 AMPC
#2 Humanity lost its true home.
Your domain of authority is not a literal building but a place of being. It is where you belong and where you will find all you need!
Read John 14:23 AMPC
When you discover your inherent authority, you find your true place. You feel comfortable in your skin, and you are at home no matter where you go!
Jesus repaired our defective authority and leads us back home!
Ephesians 3:15-19 AMPC 15 For Whom every family in heaven and on earth is named [that Father from Whom all fatherhood takes its title and derives its name].16 May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].17 May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love,18 That you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [God’s devoted people, the experience of that love] what is the breadth and length and height and depth [of it];19 [That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!
